What is your definition of globalization?

Dear classmates,

In Rizvi and Lingard's piece, The OECD and Global Shifts in Education Policy, they mention that globalization is a subjective phenomena (441). I am wondering what you all think globalization is?

Best,
Amira

  1. I agree, I think globalization is subjective, but almost anything and everything is.

In my opinion, globalization involves intercultural relations, which can be enhanced during college. Right now I am interning at the Study Abroad Office and this is a term we frequently use. We're focusing on our students understanding their identity and privilege in order to prepare them for the rest of the world in which they're about to embark upon. Globalization, to me, is understanding your own identity and future while understanding and yearning to learn about the other identities and cultures that can increase your understanding as the world as a whole.
